The Itch, and How To Scratch It

Some interesting news in the Open Source software world this week. South African gazillionaire Mark Shuttleworth (founder of Thawte) has decided to see if he can get some Mozilla bugs that annoy him fixed by a pretty straightforward approach — offering cash bounties to the first person to submit a working fix.

Will this be enough to spur someone to take up his challenge? We’ll see, but it’s another interesting data point in the “how to fund Open Source development” discussion. [Seen on MozillaZine]

If that's too hard to understand... well, I'm sorry. There's only so much I can do. I'm not a therapist, and I'm not a miracle worker. (Unless you consider staying employed in this economy a miracle.) I wish I could help you work through your delusional belief that I'm speaking for anyone else but myself. Honestly, I do. But in the end, that's a monkey you'll have to get off your back on your own. Sorry.
